About Kristy Hyde
Kristy Hyde is a salon owner, natural texture & curl specialist, educator, and mother who has spent more than two decades helping people better understand and care for their hair.
Her connection to texture is personal. As a mother of children with curly hair and through her own roots in the Gullah heritage of the Low Country Sea Islands, Kristy's work has always been grounded in understanding texture rather than trying to fix it.
Over the years, she has continued her education through Brazilian Blowouts, The Curl Conquering Method, Forever Curls Academy, Hotheads Extensions, and advanced blonding techniques on textured hair.
The range of education allows her to work with clients who wear their hair curly, blown out, colored, natural or somewhere in between.
Kristy didn't grow up knowing how to care for her own texture. She had to learn through experience, education and plenty of trial and error. Watching her son's texture change as he grew made that understanding even more personal.
After more than two decades behind the chair, Kristy knows firsthand how frustrating it can feel when your hair is misunderstood in a salon. That experience became part of the reason she created the Carolina Curl Decode, a space where education, personalized care, and understanding come first.
